Originally from Freiburg, Germany, I moved to Stuttgart in 2004 to study Mechanical Engineering with a minor Biomedical Engineering at University of Stuttgart. After research visits to University of Utah, where I worked with Professor Weiss and Georgia Institute of Technology, where I was supervised by Professor Yoganathan, I became a PhD student at Stanford with Professor Kuhl in 2010. Before graduating in 2013 I also briefly moved to Switzerland as a visiting researcher at ETH Zurich. After a short stint in non-academic research,  as Director of R&D at a medical device start-up in the Philadelphia area, I returned to academia to become a postdoctoral fellow with Professor Humphrey at Yale. As of this year I am an assistant professor at University of Texas in Austin.
