William Meador, 2nd Year PhD Student, BME
Will started at UT in 2016 after graduating from Case Western Research University with a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering. As my first lab member, Will has been instrumental in getting the lab running. His research focuses on characterizing the histomechanical properties of heart valve tissue.
Chen Shen, 1st year PhD Student, ASE/EM
Chen has been with me since 2017. He joined us after received a bachelor's and a master's degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in aeronautical engineering. He is using image analysis tools to build and then use finite element models of the tricuspid valve.
Soham Mane, 2nd year Master's Student, ASE/EM
Soham joined my lab in 2017 and, unfortunately, is already wrapping up his work with me to graduate with a Master's this year. UT is lucky to retain him and he will stay with the school as a PhD student. He is currently using isogeometric analysis to simulate and analyze networks of semiflexible fibers (including biopolymers).
Hannah Story, Sophomore, BIO
Hannah has worked with me since last year and has been making fantastic progress on her very first independent research project. She is planning to go to med school after she is graduating with a bachelor's in biology here from UT.
Claire Long, Sophomore, BIO
Like Hannah, Claire has worked in my lab since 2017. She and Hannah have been been trained in mouse surgery and are currently working to develop a new experimental framework. Claire is currently pre-vet and will, soon, be an outstanding veterninarian.
Jaydon Pierson, Freshman, ME
Although just a freshman, Jaydon is set on gaining research experience and since Spring 2018 is working as an undergraduate research assistant. He is currently helping out on a project where he uses 3D scanning and Matlab image processing to digitize and reverse engineering tricuspid annuloplasty devices.
