Blessing_new.jpg

William Meador, PhD, NIH F-31 Fellow, BME
Will started at UT in 2016 after graduating from Case Western Research University with a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering. His research focused on characterizing the histomechanical properties of tricuspid heart valve tissue. He graduated with a PhD in Biomedical Engineering in December 2021 and joined Edwards Lifesciences.

Blessing Omoregie, Visiting MSc Student
Blessing is a student of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine degree program at the University of Applied Sciences (UAS), Technikum Wien, in Austria. She focused on coupled biological - mechanical characterization of collagen / fibrin co-gels.

Chen.jpg

Chen Shen, Master’s Student, ASE/EM
Chen joined us after receiving a bachelor's and a master's degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Aeronautical Engineering. He used image analysis tools to build and then use finite element models of the tricuspid valve. He has returned to RPI to complete his PhD in Mechanical Engineering.

Soham.jpg

Soham Mane, Master's Student, ASE/EM
Soham joined my lab in 2017 and, unfortunately, is already wrapping up his work with me to graduate with a Master's this year. UT is lucky to retain him and he will stay with the school as a PhD student. He is currently using isogeometric analysis to simulate and analyze networks of semiflexible fibers (including biopolymers).

Undergraduate Students

Hannah.jpg

Hannah Story, Sophomore, BIO
Hannah has worked with me since last year and has been making fantastic progress on her very first independent research project. She is planning to go to med school after she is graduating with a bachelor's in biology here from UT.

Claire.jpg

Claire Long, Sophomore, BIO
Like Hannah, Claire has worked in my lab since 2017. She and Hannah have been been trained in mouse surgery and are currently working to develop a new experimental framework. Claire is currently pre-vet and will, soon, be an outstanding veterninarian.

Jaydon.jpg

Jaydon Pierson, Freshman, ME
Although just a freshman, Jaydon is set on gaining research experience and since Spring 2018 is working as an undergraduate research assistant. He is currently helping out on a project where he uses 3D scanning and Matlab image processing to digitize and reverse engineering tricuspid annuloplasty devices.
